Polish

Are you my great Grandma? For years my family has told me that our family originated in Poland… ahhhhh…so as I tried to sleep on our overnight train… I was thinking… I’m on my way to the Motherland- home at last!!! I enjoyed walking around looking into faces and trying to compare similarities. Sadly enough the only similarity I could see in this freezing weather was the ear-muff hat that I, along with all locals wore (Sorry, Uncle Andy… they only had them in girl sizes)...
REFLECTION
This weekend was a nice time to relax, enjoy new company, and eat lots of POLISH food! Even though many of things we experienced and saw were frightening and brought us back in history to WWII, it was good to see and take in. Here is some advice I received while touring Birkenau- “If we don’t know what went on in history, then we are bound to repeat it.”- or something along those lines

We had a blast with you in Poland; thank you for inviting us! It has been really fun to get to know you over these last few months, experiencing many of the same joys and struggles at the same time. I look forward to making many more good memories with you as we continue to serve together in Bratislava.
