Well, Saturday went well. People from all over came and were a part of Mom's services. Her desire was to have a church service, so we did. Pastor Dave did a great job of just meeting us where we were-hurt and broken, yet thankful that there is no more suffering. The weather cleared for the graveside and for the memorial, and later on when I just went to be alone at the cemetery. It had been raining constantly, but every time there was a new chain of events... the rain cleared and it was a beautiful sunny day. I find this kind of ironic because mom loved sunshine. On the day she passed away, it was a beautiful sunny day as well, which came out of nowhere!
"Now what?" This seems to be the question that everyone wants to know. I wish I had an answer. Currently, I have been busy getting all of "mom's world" together. Its hard, but necessary. I will be leaving for Turkey soon (for a two week trek to follow in the footsteps of Paul, the Apostle), finishing up my current assignment at work, and moving on to whatever is next in life. My long term desire is to be in Africa loving on people. The steps to getting there have yet to be worked out. It looks as if I'll be staying here in WA for a bit until things calm down... we will see.
Thank you all of you who have followed Mom's story and have prayed for her, for me, for my family. I have really really appreciated your encouragement. Thank you.
