Why are we amazed when things out of the ordinary happen? We know God. We know what His word says, we know that He healed people, made manna fall from a sky, parted an unbelievable amount of water, raised people from the dead, accepted the unlovables, and never told a lie. After Jesus died he came back and gave the disciples a message,
“… you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:7
This same power… this same authority is real today. It is His. He is working miracles in and through people. Why am I so shocked when I see this happen though? This happened in the days following Christ’s death.
The Lord used Peter and John to heal a beggar on the street.
“While the beggar held on to Peter and John, all the people were astonished and came running to them in the place called Solomon’s Colonnade. When Peter saw this, he said to them: 'Men of Israel, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus…. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has given this complete healing to him, as you can all see'” Acts 3
I read this and go “Man, by now the crowd should be used to the miracles…” They are ASTONISHED! In many ways I relate to the crowd here. Recently, my eyes have been opened to the reality that God really is who He says He is… and He does exactly what He says He’ll do. I am being constantly shaken and reminded that God works miraculously today. He is not hidden in a dusty book that rarely gets opened, He isn’t made to fit in a permanent outline called a church service, nor is He to be insulted by my lack of faith.
Guys, since I have moved here… I have seen people healed, experienced prophesy, witnessed changed lives through intense prayer and devotion to repentance. Personally, I have experienced freedom in areas that I didn’t even know were in “bondage.” My head is spinning with the realities of what God is doing today through his people… I can hardly keep up! It is awesome! I love it! I want to drink it in as much as I can without taking any breaths along the way. It is so good.
Alright… updates
“Cancer” is becoming a “Cancer” to my vocabulary…. Wow… Two years ago my grandma had lung cancer- Praise God-they were able to get it out with surgery…. During the same time my great Aunt Janet passed away from her cancer… my other Grandma continues battling this nasty thing… while my aunt seeks out of state help for her cancer… mom continues with her chemo… and now I await Dad’s tests hoping it is just a “bug”… Here is a great article with incredible insight from Piper… the topic is cancer… http://www.crosswalk.com/faith/1383847.html
Mom is feeling much better. She received a blood transfusion and acquired platelets this week. She has been up and about though and moving right along!
Dad did get his results back… there is a spot on his lungs and with further testing doctors will be able to give us more information.
Grandpa McDonald is out of the hospital and is doing much better!
Me...This month was honestly an up and down month… Sept is the month that not only encompasses my Step Dad’s birthday… but his death (two years ago). Mom’s health went drastically down… but since then has come drastically back up the hill! Lor and I have started coaching a volleyball team! I am enjoying my Tuesday night discipleship meetings with young women who are crazy about the Lord! Yes… all in all… Sept was good… but I look forward to the fall... October is going to bring new things to celebrate.
Ok, that’s it!
