Save the Cookie

Save the Cookie”- name of a band that is on the up rise in Slovakia

My friend Matt has been helping out some of his friends who are a part of a band called “Save the Cookie.” A while back they entered into a competition known as Coca-Cola Pop star. Over 200 entries were judged. “Save the Cookie” made it to the top four. I can see why! The lead singer Monica has so much energy and an incredible stage presence that makes the crowd go wild. Matt has done a wonderful job in orchestrating pieces where everyone’s talent just shines… So last night we went to the finals! I met some of my seventh grade students and ninth grade girls and walked to Incheba for the grand competition! Upon entering the concert, Laura, a ninth grader leans over… “Miss Bolek, this place is filled with famous stars.”

Apparently, this was the hoppin place to be and we were all there. My students just about died when I took a picture with one of their “Idols”… I can’t even remember his name. Apparently he is well known by all the Slovaks as one of the finalists in Slovak Superstar… aka… American Idol. I just thought he had cool hair and great tattoos!

Although “Save the Cookie” did not win the competition, they won the hearts of the lively crowd, the awe of the viewers watching at home, and the respect of so many kids. What I liked is that Matt- who was also on guitar last night is not only a great musician but an incredible teacher as well. Our students were able to see that teachers are just normal people too… some just happen to wear dreads and perform Jamaican raps… others dance around and support the ones that do. We all had a good night. Way to go guys!

Side Note-

I will be at 5th & 6th grade camp all next week so look for another post in about a week!

Thanks to Sasa, Fero, & Igor all old files on the computer were recovered! Thank you so much!
