Well, well... this morning I was standing in the office and it came up that my birthday is on Saturday... just then, the secretary in the office (Ivana- who is ready to deliver her baby any day now) jumps up from her desk, shakes my hand, wishes me a "Happy Birthday," and then kisses both of my cheeks! I was so delighted... I love this greeting! ...anyways, listen to this... it was directly after Ivana kissed me, that my boss came in and did the same thing! He shook my hand and then went in for the kisses! My face turned bright red, and I tried to act as natural as possible realizing I had just been kissed by my boss! This happened to me a few weeks ago by a person I tutor and I thought my face was red then... No, today brought a whole new shade of red to the table! Of all of their traditions that I love... this one is definitely in the top three! I'm hoping to bring this Slovak ritual back to the states!
