25th Birthday

Thursday Dec 1
It all started at the Bratislava Christmas festival with hot chicken sandwiches, Verene Vinko, and hot donuts! We decided to have our normal “Thursday night Roomie Bonding” at this wonderful Christmas gathering! When we came home… the girls hung up pink streamers and balloons… the night ended with my favorite Vienna Ice cream! Yum! Thanks girls!

Friday Dec 2
I am told to pack an overnight bag… be ready by 10:15 am… we are going to leave on a train.

Saturday Dec 3
Laura surprised me with some delicious pancakes with real syrup!
Lori, Laura, and I boarded a train at 11:00 and we were off! The girls gave me clues along the way in hopes that I would eventually discover our end destination- Pestany! Pestany is a small spa town in Slovakia. Many older people, individuals with physical pain, and people who just want to relax come to this small town! Once we were there, we walked to our hotel on the river and grabbed our bathing suits, towels, and flip flops for the spa. I really had no idea what to expect, but I knew we were all very excited! We started this adventure by experiencing the "healing" sulfur water! Eventually we decided on massages and mud packs! Oh, boy! I asked the lady where we should change, and seemingly overwhelmed, she moved onto the next customer. Lori and I were first for our Mud Pack treatments. We walked into the building with our blue paper shoe coverings on. Inside the building there were people who only spoke Slovak dressed in white coats… they showed us to our room! Much to our amazement, we did not need to understand Slovak to realize what we had gotten ourselves into! As we passed by people everywhere we realized this was going to be unlike any other Spa we have ever been to. Needless to say, after many laughs, two great massages, being wrapped up like a cocoon in mud… I have officially decided I love the Spa! Lori and Laura, thank you for such an amazing birthday! I will truly never forget it!
