Friends

Wow, this weekend has been so incredibly refreshing. I did not even realize that the darkness and dreariness had been chiseling away at me until a wonderful gift came. On Thursday I went and picked up a previous London abroad professor of mine, Dr. Lewter, and his family. My friend Jason (a friend from Focus) and his friend Becky also “just happened to” drop in on this same day from Paris! Thursday night we gathered all together in our flat. Becky decided to cook us all a wonderful dinner, and for the rest of the night we just chatted and caught up. It was a long awaited night of conversation that was challenging and rewarding all at the same time. Oh to be in the presence of so many people who LOVE Christ passionately- ah so good!

It is interesting when you are taken out of your element for a while and when something familiar pops back in how refreshing it is. I welcomed the meaningful conversation and rejoiced in sweet familiarity. I was reunited once again with hearts that are similar. At one point in the evening I just stood there in the doorway looking into the living room- I saw Dr. Lewter and Jason engaging in great conversation. My friend Lori and Becky worked away in the kitchen... Amazing dinner. Mrs. Lewter was smiling and enjoying the rest after a day of travel. Everyone was so content- so happy. Our apartment, or flat felt warm and homey! That was definitely not something we created- it was something that was brought in with the people visiting. So, thank you friends for visiting. Thank you roomies for allowing my little “dose of home” to come visit in the flat. Ahhh, thank you Lord for the refreshing encouragement that this whole time brought.
