Happy Birthday Gerdy!
Let me tell you all about my good friend Gerdy! Gerdy and I met... I think at Daycare? We were born only months apart.
Through the years of growing up I have had fun memories with Gerdy- climbing trees, getting locked in offices, building forts, terrorizing our babysitters, sneaking out (only once), sledding down hills with cowpies, catching newts, and ah yes- supporting our favorite group... New Kids on the Block!
Gerdy has always been a great friend to me. She is one of the most loyal friends I know. Though we differ on many views of life, we continue to grow in our friendship through the miles and through the years. I cherish this young lady's friendship. She is full of energy and is incredibly selfless. Thanks Gerdy for being such a good friend! I hope you have a wonderful birthday!

You are bringing tears to my eyes. These past couple of days have been rough for me and what you wrote has brought a long overdue smile to my face. Thank you for this and everything that you have done for me. You have been the greatest friend over the years and the miles.
